Opens: October 5, 2026 at 8:00 am / Closes on October 23, 2026 at 4:00 pm

Brentwood Union School District offers a diverse health benefits package.  Benefits are available to all employees who work four or more hours daily, prorated for hours worked.  We have three options for medical benefit coverage - Kaiser, United Health Alliance/Journey (accepts Sutter Doctors) and United Health Signature Value HMO/Journey.  Dental benefit coverage is provided by Delta Dental.  Optional vision benefit coverage is available through VSP.

EMPLOYEES MUST PARTICIPATE IN OPEN ENROLLMENT IF.....

  • You are changing medical insurance plans.

  • You are adding or removing dependents without a significant life event.

  • You participate in BUSD medical insurance coverage and will be Waiving your medical for 2027.

  • You have a Flexible Spending Account and/or Dependent Day Care Account. (They DO NOT roll over. All FSA Accounts end 12/31/2026.)

  • You want to add, change and/or drop and optional insurance coverage through Colonial Life. You MUST make an appointment with Colonial to make any changes or additions. Appointment link below under Colonial tab.

  • You receive a Cash Option, cash in lieu of benefits, or waiving medical and will be Waiving medical for 2027. Waivers and proof are good for the current year only. You still have to complete this process, even if you just waived your medical this October for 2026 New Hire Benefits.

  • You are eligible for medical coverage with BUSD but do not participate in it.

WHAT IF I DONT COMPLETE OPEN ENROLLMENT, WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MY CURRENT MEDICAL COVERAGE STARTING 1/1/2027?

KAISER:

  • Kaiser DHMO plan will remain your current coverage

  • Kaiser $10 copay plan will remain your current coverage

UHC ALLIANCE:

  • UHC Alliance $20 copay plan will remain your current coverage

  • UHC Alliance Journey plan will remain your current coverage

UHC SIGNATURE VALUE:

  • UHC $20 Signature Value Full network plan will remain your current coverage

  • UHC Journey Signature Value Full network plan will remain your current coverage

MEDICAL OR DEPENDENT CARE FSA:

  • You will not have an FSA for 2027. You must enroll every year.

DONT COMPLETE WAIVING MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR 2027:

  • You will be enrolled into our Kaiser DHMO plan for the year effective 1/1/2027.

  • No changes can be made to enrollment into Kaiser DHMO for the 2027 year without a qualifying life event.
