Hispanic Heritage Month
Hispanic Heritage Month 2026 is a time for celebration, reflection, and recognition of the contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the United States. Observed from September 15 to October 15, this month-long event honors the rich history, culture, and achievements of the Hispanic community. The 2026 theme, ‘Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together’, emphasizes the role of Hispanic Americans in driving progress and innovation.

This observance began in 1968 and was expanded to a month in 1988.
It celebrates the contributions of over 60 million Hispanic Americans.
Engage in various celebrations at home, school, work, and in the community.

We are excited to share with you that we will be continuing our Community Celebration lessons during this school year. We want you to know that we have posted all lessons on our BUSD website. We have also included a FAQ document to explain the ‘why’ behind these lessons and answer some of the questions we have received. Please know that we continue to work on these lessons in order to fine-tune them and make sure they communicate our focus on inclusion and the contributions from members of the communities represented in these lessons.
