Community Celebrations - August
IDENTITY AND DIVERSITY
Identity is what makes each person unique. It includes things like our culture, language, beliefs, values, interests, family background, and personal experiences. Identity helps shape who we are and how we see the world.
Diversity means that people are different from one another in many ways, including their cultures, abilities, ages, genders, religions, and perspectives. These differences make communities stronger by bringing a variety of ideas, talents, and experiences.
Celebrating identity and diversity means respecting, valuing, and appreciating these differences. It involves creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels accepted, heard, and respected. By celebrating diversity, we learn from one another, build stronger relationships, and help create a more welcoming and fair society.

BUSD Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to share with you that we will be continuing our Community Celebration lessons during this school year. We want you to know that we have posted all lessons on our BUSD website. We have also included a FAQ document to explain the ‘why’ behind these lessons and answer some of the questions we have received. Please know that we continue to work on these lessons in order to fine-tune them and make sure they communicate our focus on inclusion and the contributions from members of the communities represented in these lessons. The lessons, sequence of months, and the FAQ can be found here: https://www.brentwood.k12.ca.us/page/community-celebrations
