Daily Procedures

California Senate Bill 98 provides direction to districts regarding required student attendance as summarized here:

  • Districts must document daily participation for each student daily for in-person and remote learning.
  • Daily instructional minutes are based on a combination of in-person instruction and the time value of assignments provided through remote learning.
  • If your child will not be engaged in their daily scheduled learning due to illness or otherwise, please follow your school site's absence reporting protocols.
Home Health Screening
 

Staff and Students are directed to not come to school if they answer yes to any of the following symptom checks:

  • Do you currently have, or have you had a fever of 100.4 or greater in the past 14 days?
  • Are you currently experiencing or have you experienced in the past 14 days a cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, chills, headache or muscle aches, nausea, diarrhea, or vomiting?
  • Have you been in close proximity to anyone who has experienced any of the above symptoms or who has tested positive for COVID-19?

Drop-off/Pick-up procedures
  • Entry and exit points have been identified for each campus.
  • Parents/Guardians are to remain in their vehicle for drop-off and pick-up.
  • Students are to report directly to their classroom upon arrival to campus.
  • Parents/Guardians will not be permitted to accompany their child onto and from campus.
  • Please refer to your school specific map for directions for drop off and pick-up.                                                                                                                                                                                               
Personal protective equiptment requirements

                                    

All individuals who enter district facilities, including all staff and students, are required to wear face coverings that cover the mouth and nose consistent with public health guidance.

Staff and students who are not able to wear a cloth face covering are encouraged to wear a clear face shield, with a cloth drape attached, tucked into the collar of a shirt or tied around the back of the neck to contain coughs and sneezes. Any health exemptions must submit medical documentation with our district nurses two weeks prior to the students’ return to school date.

Physical distancing
          
  • Students will maintain six feet of physical distancing whenever possible, including in the classroom setting.
  • Classroom furniture has been minimized to allow for individual learning spaces to be six feet apart.
  • When closer proximity is required, such as small group instruction or one on one teacher support, sneeze guards will be utilized. Individual desk shields have been provided for each classroom.
  • Outdoor learning spaces will be utilized as often as practicable.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         

 

Supplies and personal items
 
  • To eliminate sharing of items, each student will be provided a personal set of needed supplies for completing classwork. This may include crayons, colored pencils, markers, etc.
  • Each student has been provided with a digital device to use in class or at home.  Students will receive a Chromebook. Students are required to bring their device and charger to and from school for each in-person learning day.
  • Students will store any personal items, such as backpacks and snacks or lunches, apart from other students’ items. All personal items are required to go home with the student daily for cleaning.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        

 

recess/lunch procedures
       
  • Students will remain in their assigned cohorts for recess.
  • Recess times will be staggered and designated play areas will be identified for each cohort.
  • Each classroom will have assigned playground equipment.
  • Students receiving lunch through the BUSD Child Nutrition Services will pick up their prepackaged Grab N' Go meal in a designated location.

WHAT TO BRING

Each day, your child should bring:

  • Fillable water bottle
  • BUSD assigned digital device (if required by site or teacher)
  • BUSD provided supply packet & workbooks (determined by each teacher)
  • Washed or new face covering (masks will also be available at school)                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  

 

PARENTS ON CAMPUS

At this time, school site offices are closed to the public. Please be sure contact your student's teacher or the school office by email or telephone rather than visiting the school campus. Most needs can be handled remotely. When an in-person visit is necessary, please be sure to first schedule an appointment.

In order to follow health and safety guidelines provided by Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), we require that all visitors:

  • Maintain a social distance of six feet with anyone around you.
  • Do not exceed a maximum of two visitors at a time in all school offices.
  • Wear face coverings at all times.
  • Limit movement on campus to the school office only. Visitors, including parents/guardians, are not allowed to enter the school grounds or classrooms.
