Medi-Cal Services Information

Brentwood Union School District

Parental Consent for Medi-Cal Billing in Schools

2015-16

Brentwood Union School District participates in the Local Education Agency Medi-Cal Billing Option Program offered through the California Department of Health Care Services and the Centers for Medicaid Services. The program allows for the school district to receive federal reimbursement funds for some health services provided to Medi-Cal eligible students while they are at school. The funds are reinvested back into the school programs to benefit students and their families.

 

Brentwood Union School District can bill Medi-Cal for assessments and services for students who have and Individualized Education Plan (IEP), as well as for students who, upon assessment, do not qualify for Special Education services. The areas of service include speech, psychology, occupational therapy, physical therapy and nursing services. 

 

Consistent with the following Codes of Federal Regulations:

34 CFR 300.154(d)(2)(iv), 34 CFR 300.154(d)(2)(v), 34 CFR 99.30 and 34 CFR 300.622:

  • Parental consent must be obtained before Brentwood Union School District can submit Medi-Cal claims for the student’s billable health services. This is a one-time consent that can be revoked by the parent at any time.
  • The services that Brentwood Union School District provides to the student will not be affected in any way by the parent’s consent or refusal.
  • The parent/student will never pay a fee for health services provided to the student by Brentwood Union School District. The parent/student’s Medi-Cal benefits will never be affected in any way.
  • The student’s medical/educational records may be disclosed to Medi-Cal for the purpose of authenticating claims.
  • Brentwood Union School District will provide annual written notice to parents before accessing their child’s public insurance benefits (Medi-Cal).

Brentwood Union School District participa en el Programa de Opción LEA (Local Educational Agency/Agencia Local de Educación) de Medi-Cal, ofrecido por el Departamento de Servicios de Salud de California y los Centros para Servicios de Medicaid. El programa permite que el distrito escolar reciba fondos de reembolso federal para algunos servicios de salud proporcionados a los estudiantes elegibles para Medi-Cal mientras estén en la escuela. Los fondos se reinvierten en los programas escolares para beneficio de los estudiantes y sus familias.

Brentwood Union School District puede ser reembolsado por Medi-Cal para las evaluaciones y servicios de los estudiantes de IEP (Individualized Education Plan/Plan Individual Educacional), así como para los estudiantes que, al ser evaluados, no califican para servicios de Educación Especial. Las áreas de servicio incluyen el habla, psicología, terapia ocupacional, fisioterapia y servicios de enfermería.

Conforme a los siguientes Códigos de Regulaciones Federales:

Este consentimiento solo tiene que hacerse una sola vez, y puede ser revocado por los padres en cualquier momento.
  • De ninguna manera serán afectados los servicios del estudiante proporcionados por Brentwood Union School District  con el consentimiento o rechazo de los padres.
  • Ni los padres, ni el estudiante nunca pagarán un cobro por los servicios de salud proveídos por Brentwood Union School District. Jamás, de ninguna manera se verán afectados los beneficios de Medi-Cal de los padres y/o estudiantes.
  • Los expedientes médicos y/o educativos del estudiante pueden ser revelados a Medi-Cal con el fin de autenticar los reclamos.
  • Brentwood Union School District proporcionará un aviso anual por escrito a los padres de familia antes de obtener acceso a los beneficios del seguro público de su hijo/a (Medi-Cal).
